Ethiopia, a key U.S. ally in the fight against terrorism in North Africa, is again on the brink of chaos following the outbreak of large-scale protests that erupted last week. The demonstrations prompted the government to declare a state of emergency and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn to submit his resignation amid the worst political crisis the country has faced in years.

Thousands of Ethiopians have taken to the streets to protest exclusion from the country’s political system and economic growth. The government’s declaration of a state of emergency effectively bans protests, leading the U.S. Embassy to call for “greater freedom, not less.” Continue reading →

I am educated as a medical doctor to treat patients during illness and injury to live long and healthy life. To fulfill my duty there are certain professional values on which all doctors are expected to base their practice. ኣምባገነኑ የወያኔ መንግስት፡ በኦሮሚያ ብሄራዊ የጭቆና ፍጻሜ ንቅናቄ ትግል ተንኮታኩቶ ከውድቀቱ ኣፋፍ የሚገኘው የኢህኣዴግ ስርዓት በጠመንጃ ኣፈሙዝ እራሱ ከውድቀት ለማትረፍና ሲፈጽም የነበረውንና እየፈጸመ ያለውን የዘር-ማጥፋት (ጄኖሳይ) ወንጀል ይበልጥ ለማስቀጠል በኦሮሞ ህዝብና ባጠቃላይ በሃገሪቷ ህዝቦች ላይ ያወጣውን የጦርነት ኣዋጅ ኣጽድቆ የሃገሪቷን ኣስተዳደር ከስድስት ወራት በላይ ለሚሆን ጊዜ በኮማንድ ፖስት ስር ኣስገብቷል።

ኣሁን ባወጣው የጦርነት ኣዋጅ ቀደም ሲል ለስም ብቻ የነበረውን የሃገሪቷን የኣስተዳደር ስርዓት ባጠቃላይ በወታደራዊ ኣገዛዝ ስር በማስገባት የሰብዓዊና ዲሞክራሲ መብቶችን መርገጡን እንዲሁም የዘር-ፍጅት ወንጀሉን በቀጣይነት ለማካሄድ እየሰራ መሆኑ ይታወቃል። ይህ የጦርነት ኣዋጅ በህዝባችን ላይ እንዳይጸድቅ ከያለንበት ሁሉ ማውገዝና ኣስፈላጊው ጫና እንዲደረግ ቄሮ ቢሊሱማ ኦሮሞ ለኦሮሞ ህዝብና ለመላው የሃገሪቷ ህዝቦች ጥሪውን ያስተላልፋል። Continue reading →
