After series of discussions and party members meeting failed to materialize in legitimate response to the genuine demand of the public led by the National Youth Movement of Qeerroo, cadres and party members of the ruling coalition EPRDF/OPDO are organizing themselves to say no to the crackdown and to show their support and sympathy for the Qeerroo led movement for justice and democracy.

According to informants of Qeerroo, the meetings which still continued in some places and cities through out Oromiya is marred by disagreement, threat and suspicion after members have failed to give any clue of the Qeerroo struggles network. They are also said to be angry on the state media continued propaganda of development while people are imprisoned in mass and some are dying in and out of the notorious prisons in the country. Especially members of the OPDO party in some Universities namelyAddis Ababa, Wollega, Ambo, Adama and Jimma have been said to be in good terms with the Qeerroo movement.

In a U turn change of mind, Addis Ababa University OPDO party members have issued a statement denouncing the current state of crackdown on people with a legitimate demand and declared their allegiances to the public call for change. A statement sent to Qeerroo have claimed that they have waited so long for the evolution of the system to respond to the demand of the Oromo people but nothing seems to materialize at the will of the party. Our persistence for the cause of the Oromo people in staying with the party membership has only widened the political line between the Oromo public at large and this is clearly counterproductive, their statement reads written in Afan Oromo.

Finally they have listed a 3 point stand in which they have

1.      Declared their resignation from their OPDO party membership,

2.      Honored the expensive price paid by Oromo people in their struggle for justice and democracy, while regretting with their role in clamping down with dissents and spying for the killing machine of the Woyane government

3.      They have also called their fellow party members to follow suit to enhance the struggle for a just cause and redress the injustice being done to the people calling out for help;

On the other side, while the scrutiny and crackdown continues; it is to be remembered that the Qeerroo National Movement Leadership have reiterated their commitment to continue their struggle to success.
