Qeerroo Report from Finfinne, January 28, 2012

The Arab Spring style uprising which was formally launched in Oromia on January 22, 2012 has continued this week in the entire Oromian different places taking various forms and styles. Below is a summary of some of the activities in the form of civil disobedience in various parts of Oromia.

Finfinne (Addis Ababa), Jan. 23 – 28

Leaflets and Qeerros declaration and call for civil disobedience have been distributed and posted in the entire city at public places. Among them are different campuses of Finfinne (Addis Ababa) University, African Union Campus, and different Hotels. Pictures of some of these leaflets are shown below.

  Ambo, Jan. 23.

Leaflets of Qeerroo calling the Oromo public was widely distributed in the Ambo town, Western Shoa zone. Panicked by the call and fearing that an uprising may suddenly occur, the TPLF regime ordered the university administration to close the university and asked all the students to leave the campus and go to their families.

Gudar, Jan. 24

On January 23 and 24, 2012 Oromo students of Gudar High school, Western Shoa zone protested holding pictures of Oromo heroes  Tadesse Birru, Lagesse Wagi and martyr students such as Jaagamaa Badhaanee,  who were killed by the regime forces during the 2005 protest of Oromian students. The school was reportedly closed later in the week. Panicked by the protest and fearing that more protest may follow, the forces of the regime were seen flying over Ambo and Gudar towns with their military airplanes and helicopters in an attempt of intimidating the people of the zone. The following days a large number of the so called Agazi force of the Federal government is dispatched and was seen circling schools in Ambo, Gudar and other close by towns of the zone.

Bakko, Jan. 24, 25

Students of Bakko Agricultural College, Western Shoa zone, protested in their compound for two days, Jan 24 and 25, and the school was finally closed.

Ebantu, Jan. 24 – 27

Students of Qaqaro elementary and junior secondary school (1 – 8) of Ebantu County [Woreda] protested asking for the so called OPDO organization to be liquidated for it has no ability moral ground to govern the Oromo people. The administrative cabinet of the county could not stop the protest and they asked for additional force to quash the disobedience. A large number of Woyyane troops have been dispatched to the area from the central government through the Gojjam route and the people of the area are reportedly confronting the dispatched force.

The struggle will continue!

Gama kaaniin barattootni mana Barumsaa Gudar hanga Bilisummaa barnootatti hin deebinu,Qabsoon haa dursu jechuun waraqaa dhaadannoo bakkeewwan garaa  garaatti maxxansuun  waamicha qabsoo ilmaan oromoof dhaamaa jiru.Waraqaan dhaadannoo fi aasxaan Qeerroo Godina Horroo Guduruutti maxxanfame Wayyaanee hedduu waan rifaasiseef waraana naannoo sanatti bobbaastee jirti.Mootummaan wayyaanee kutannoo barattootaa kan argite maatii barattootaatti deemanii barattooti Oromoo haala kana irraa akka dhaabbatan jechuun  kadhaa jalqabaniiru.

Kana malees goototi barattootni Koollejjii Qonnaa Baakkoos Diddaa itti fufuun barnoota dhaabanii jiru. Yuunivarsiitii Finfinnee keessattis diddaan jabaachuun bakkeewwan hedduutti dhaadannoon maxxanfamaa jiru mootummaa Wayyaanee hirriba dhorkee jira.Uummatni ganda gandaan akka qoratamu murteessuu irra darbee Barattoota qalamaa fi dabtara malee hin qabne sakatta’aa jirti. Kun kana tahees barattooti Oromoo diddaa isaanii itti fufanii jiru.

Amajjii 27,2012 Gutuummaa guyyaa har’aa Godinaa Wallaaggaa Bahaa keessaatti Uummaannii fi warannii wayyaanee wal gaarreenfaachaa olaani.

Gotonnii baratoota Oromoo Hammuuruu Qabsoon itti fufaa diinni maaliif mana barnootaa nurraatti cufaa, jechuun dhaadatan.
