Detention and Mistreatment can never stop our struggle
Press Release: National Youth Movement of Qeerroo
January 3, 2012
Due to 20 years of continued repression and brutality of the EPRDF government on the Oromo and other nations in Ethiopia, the National Youth Movement of Qeerroo was formed in April 2011 and was trying to air loudly the voice of the Ethiopian people in general and the Oromo people in particular. The last two decades have naked the cheap behavior of the dictator government of Ethiopia that it is not ready for any peaceful dialogue and its inability to listen to the voice of the people.
The resistance of Oromo students’ movement that erupted in different universities and class of societies was met by mass imprisonment, killing, poisoning and dismissal by the barbaric government that rules in Ethiopia and they think they have suppressed the voice of the people.
The resistance of Qeerroo is still going in an organized manner within schools, Universities and farmers. More than any other time, this is a time when the Oromo community across the board has effectively rejected the Woyane government that hangs on power. Accordingly as of December 2011, the Woyane government has started a wave of mass imprisonment in a bid to subdue the revolution in the making. Currently Adama University stays closed due to the heroic movement the students. Security forces have taken away 67 students and they are reportedly suffering of mistreatment and torture.
