TPLF confused: Oromummaa vis-à-vis Oromo Liberation Front

Qeerroo Report, Finfinnee, 3 September 2011

Having continued with its aggressive brutal attack on Oromo people, TPLF government securities are arresting pro-democracy Oromo nationalists from all zones of Oromia. In order to block the disseminations of news regarding its brutality, the government has also disconnected all telephones and internets in many parts of the region. Because of the fear they have towards the intensified pro-democracy movements, the government started arresting and attacking opposition political party leaders.

The government is allegedly accusing the opposition leaders with false accusation-suspected linkage with Oromo Liberation Front (OLF). VOA Addis Ababa correspondent Peter Heinlein reported that these prominent opposition politicians charged with having ties to the newly “outlawed OLF”, which is fighting for independence for Oromos, Ethiopia’s largest ethnic group. The detained pro-democracy nationalists insisted that being member or linked to OLF is not crime rather it’s the indication of nationalism for Oromummaa. Hence, they have firm stand that detention and torture will never stop them from the movement in search for freedom and democracy.

Of the following are among the Oromo detainees locked at Maikelawi by Federal TPLF government “Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force” on August 02,10,23 and 28, 2011:

Morever, in Wellega, Horro Guduru Province and Harar Hirna Town because of the clash between Oromo youth and police forces, a large number of Federal TPLF government securities are being taken to the different districts in the province in order to use aggressive force against these pro-democracy and freedom Oromo youths.

The struggle shall continue and the oppressor will fall!
