For the triumph of their struggle over its unjust decision of 1950, United Nation has never forgiven the Eritrean people: The policy of arrogance and domination.

janbeeOn June 8, 2016, we have heard the United Nation’s human right commission report recommending to United Nation’s Security Council to take Eritrean leaders to International Crime Court for crime against humanity. A lot of excitement we see from   Ethiopian government and all Ethiopian opposition political parties is understandable. Notwithstanding the double standard of this UN body when it comes to lack of such an enthusiasm  to investigate and recommend Ethiopian leaders to be taken to International Criminal Court for committing:  genocide, crime against humanity and war crime against Oromians for the last 25 years, I argue that the report by this UN body is the repeat of how the  UN body, then Political and Security Committee, conspired against the wishes and the aspiration of Eritrean people to be independent and led Eritreans to carry out thirty years of independence war to break  forced marriage imposed on them by the UN in 1950. Here is how history has repeated itself.

The Horn of Africa has been the region that has a significant strategic importance. For it is located between the oil producing region of the Middle East and the Indian Ocean that connects the region to the USA and Europe, there have been scramble to control and influence this region by Western powers such as: British, France and  Italy in 1890’s. While the USA entered into the competition for the region after the end of the Second World War, Russia’s interest in the region started in 1960’s.For the triumph of their struggle over its decision of 1950
