Press release, the Oromo youth movement (Qeerroo Bilisummaa)

The Qeerroo Business Boycott is Upgraded into an Overall Uprising to End Tyranny

Press release, the Oromo youth movement (Qeerroo Bilisummaa)

Until it has fallen under the colony of the Ethiopian empire, the Oromo people had a glorious history. Since the colonization, the Oromo people have suffered from various forms of oppression and exploitation by the successive Ethiopian regimes. Now the Oromo people have said enough to the tyranny and took their frustration to the street in unison.

We, the Oromo youth movement (aka ‘Qeerroo Bilisumma Oromo’), have held a leadership meeting to celebrate the new year 2018 and the commemoration of Oromo liberation army (OLA) day. During our meeting, we have discussed various issues and strategies and planned the next steps of our struggle. As can be recalled from our press, released on January 1, 2018, we have declared our plans. Among the plans was to continue the movement until all the questions of the Oromo people are being answered and the quest of the Oromo people for freedom is achieved. In addition, we have also declared that all Oromo business men and women, farmers, students and the Oromo people as a whole should stand up in unity against the Ethiopian government and implement our plans to bring an end to the tyranny.

To the end, the Oromo youth has worked diligently with the Oromo business men and women that led to the closure and boycott of the businesses from February 12-14, 2018. The business boycott was very successful, and the Oromo youth movement takes this opportunity to thank all the Oromo people for listening to our call and implementing our plan.

The business boycott and the economic and resource sanctions on Wayyanee and their surrogates should continue unabated until we regain our freedom. Meanwhile, as we indicated in our press released on January 1, 2018, the Oromo people should help each other in their daily needs of life.

As planned, the call for business boycott has ended as of today February 14, 2018. However, the Oromo youth movement still calls upon all the Oromo people to continue the peaceful uprising until the TPLF dictatorial government is removed and the freedom of the people is secured.

We would like to advise all the structure of the Oromo youth movement in various part of Oromia and the Oromia policy who involved in this movement to continue your leadership with at most unity, determination and principle until the quest of the Oromo people for freedom is achieved.

Victory for the Oromo People!
