(Qerroo News, Adama, June 05-2011) It is years now that the TPLF led EPRDF government is confiscating farmers land to award to its inner circle and sell it out to foreign investors while million of the country men and women go hungry. This all is being carried out by the support of huge security personnel’s and the regime has invested heavily to silence the farmers. But the news from Boosat Woreda in Central Oromia is revealing the breaking of the silence to this unforgiveable crime.
According to Qeerroo news correspondent in Boosat woreda, the Dongorree and Moomee kebele farmers has risen up in the serious of protest on this matter. Accordingly the dictatorial regime on power is imprisoning many farmers accusing them of orchestrating protest, participating in uprising and unwillingness to leave their land away.
In a similar development, the cadres of the government have ordered their security team to fire on farmers without any discussion on these who will try to plough their land after being evicted and given to other owners.
Some of the farmers imprisoned after protesting to give up their land include:
- Mr. Daaccoo Beqele
- Mr. Zawdee Kebede
- Mr. Alemayyoo Kebede
These and other farmers are still suffering in prisons, while the land grabbing and eviction of farmers continues in very shocking speed.
