The Popular Revolution will not be Hindered by Mischievous Propaganda
Statement of Qeerroo: The National Youth Movement for Freedom and Democracy
The current dictatorial regime of Ethiopia led by the Tigrean Peoples’ Liberation Front (TPLF) is engaged in a futile propaganda in an attempt to divert attention from the middle-east stile popular revolution declared by Qeerroo, and which is about to explode inOromia and in the entire Ethiopia at large. One such convenient propaganda chosen by the regime at this moment is the so called plan to construct a huge dam of the “Abbay” (Blue Nile) river.For the regime this kind of propaganda has two purposes: 1) to divert the attention of the peoples of Ethiopia and the international community from the inevitable revolution, 2) to use this opportunity to collect money for their own purpose. In relation to this Abbay river dam construction the regime is also forcing people to rally in the support of the dam, and forceful conscription of the youth for their military is intensified.
In conjunction with the propaganda campaign, the regime is intensifying the arrest of people suspected of instigating the popular uprising. Particularly the regime has considered Oromo students and teachers as its number one enemy. Although the regime is trying to hide its enmity for the Oromo people, human rights organizations such as Human Rights Watch are testifying how the regime has targeted the Oromo people based on their own investigation and evidence.
As we speak, all universities and colleges in Oromia are surrounded by the regimes’ police and are under strict watch due to fear that the students may instigate protests. The situation is even worse in universities outside of Oromia. Oromo students there are not only watched by police and secretly armed intelligence forces who are Tigrean by birth, but are also intimidated and harassed by Tigrean students. Inside sources and some leaked information suggest that the regime is even not confident on any structure running under OPDO. This shows that the regime is an enemy of the Oromo people and other peoples of Ethiopia. Meanwhile, the Oromo people and all other peoples of the country are showing vividly that they are ignoring the empty propaganda of the regime.
Two weeks ago, the regime dispatched its cadres to North America in an attempt to influence the Diaspora population, in which the people stood in unison and clearly said “ENOUGH! GAYE! BEKA!” embarrassing the regime in public.Except few puppets, all peoples of Oromo, Amara, Ogaden, Sidama, Gambella, etc stood shoulder to shoulder in exposing the regime. These protests also helped in unifying all peoples of Ethiopia against the regime. To hide this embarrassment from the people of the country the regime is jamming medias such as VOA, DW, VOL and others. It is also known that, after the Oromian students declared for protest, telephone services are constantly interrupted.
One of the tactics used by the regime is the divide-and-rule policy used for a long time. There is no doubt that this anti-freedom and democracy regime is panicked when different peoples of the country overcame their differences and united in opposition to the regime. A similar revolt is going to break out inside the country in unison. Oromo youth have organized themselves under the name The National Youth Movement for Freedom and Democracy or in short Qeerrooinside the country and declared to revolt against the regime in coordination with other oppressed people of the country. The regime is using different tactics to relinquish this movement. Among the tactics used so far are: spreading malicious and fabricated propaganda, abducting and arresting suspected students, trying to bribe and deceive the youth with money, infiltrating among the youth and trying to convince them by telling them that “the time is not ripe for revolution” etc. We would like to make clear that all these tactics will not reverse the revolution of the youth and the oppressed people in general.
It is time to rise up. To take the lesson of the revolution in the Arab world and North Africa in conjunction with our own popular uprising known usFincilaDiddaaGarummaa (Revolt Against Subjugation) and register owns’ history. Because the Oromo people is the single largest population in the region, and because of the democratic systemGadaa we inherited from our forefathers, we can indeed be the hope of democracy not only for the peoples of Ethiopia, but also for the entire Horn of Africa. In collaboration with other peoples of the country we are confident that our struggle shall bear fruit and reach the end goal of achieving Freedom and Democracy for all oppressed people in the country.

As for the TPLF is a hard die desperation, for Oromia and other regions is a question of Social- justice by inevitable popular uprising against the facist TPLF regime. It is for such fear to divert the attention of popular uprising to explod at any time.TPLF is the worest enemy the Horn could have as a mercenary.
The Tigray minority group looted/ looting every resources of the country to only develop their dry region. As recently broadcasted on VOA Afaan Oromoo, 60% of the Tigray region were covered by the new plantation canopy whereas the Oromia’s natural forests were destroyed by the TPLF agents as a move to destroy our natural resources as well.The Tigray ethnic students through out the Ethiopian empire officially favoured for any sectore as White South Africans did over the Blacks and coloured people during the Apartide era. Hence the more they stay in power, the more killing, arbitrary arrests and looting will continue. As dying is inevitable, dying for Liberty and Idenity is a honour to stand against the hungry TPLF regime!

– in Oromo forums and paltalks to function as hardliner supporters of an ‘Indepnendent Oromia’ just to denigrate and to insult the Ethio-nationalists’ (the Amhara) camp.
At the moment, the card of the ‘Tigrean independence’, which Zenawi used to preach as he was a rebel, has no more value, as long as Woyane is in power. Even if the Woyane cadres try to use this card, no one is scared of it; even the pro-unity Amharas do say: “go to hell and declare your independence”! This card of course will be important when Woyane starts to see that its power in Finfinne palace is in danger! Till then Woyane purposely advocates an UNCONDITIONAL ‘Independent Oromia’ to the Oromo, so that the Oromo people be cornered only at this position, not to be flexible. Woyane knows very well that this position has got a lot of enemies (not only the unitarist Amhara, but also the Western regimes). With the same logic, Woyane preaches to Amhara nationalists how important a ‘Unitary Ethiopia’ is, for this position produces enemity of all oppressed nations including the Oromo towards the Amhara. That means Woyane’s best cards now are these two diametrically opposite positions: ‘unconditional independent Oromia’ and ‘unconditional unitary Ethiopia’, of course beside its continous song about Woyane’s ethnic federation per force (about its de facto Tigrean hegemony)!
But now the question is: how long will both the Ethio-nationalists’ camp of the Amhara and the Ethno-nationalists’ bloc of the Oromo allow Woyane to play with them as such and beat them turn by turn? Are they less intelligent than the Woyane not to outsmart this fascist and racist regime? Time will show us for how long Woyane will play this game of pure political acrobat, presenting itself as either radical independentists or as the only federalists or as radical unitarists (chauvinists), actually its ONLY motive being to keep the Tigrean Hegemony at any cost!
