A routine and useless meetings organized by the OPDO in East Wollega Zone, Limmu District were meet with stiff resistance after farmers apparently told the OPDO officials “when our land is sold, we are forcefully evicted and when our children’s were dragged to prisons from year to year on different charges you say it is the federal government that decides this and that, now with what power do you call us a meeting? We have harvests to collect and things to do for our unfortunate families. Please leave us alone”.

In return the local officials named Marga and Asafaa; accused 5 farmers of Waaroo village of orchestrating the resistance and they have apparently held the farmers in secret prison. They are

  1. Ayyanaa Gammachu
  2. Waaqjiraa Ayyaana
  3. Alamayyoo Waaqjiraa
  4. Gammachu Fufaa and
  5. Hundarraa Fayyisa.

In related news, a row that started with the eviction of farmers for the purpose of land investors and Nasheen river dam construction and related compensation matters have been growing to a full scale resistance in Horro Guduru Wollega Zone, Ashaayyaa Village. The remote area named Nuguloo, is reportedly devoid of all basic facility for life including water, shops, clinic and road and many argues that it is too risky to move families to these areas.

In a related story from Horro Guduru Wollega zone, Abbay Comman district, the long row between workers of Finca’a Sugar Factory and Woyyane officials have sparked anger after three workers namely

  1. Sooreessaa Bookaa (Head of Employment)
  2. Taadasaa Gamachuu (Head of Administration) and
  3. Fiqaaduu Bultoosaa (Head of Public Relation) of the factory  were fired on allegation of running OLF agenda while Mr Dirribsa Lagasaa (President of the Workers Union) was through to jail on charges instigating protest and running OLF agenda.

A different story from West Wollega, Gimbi Town shows that a well to do business man named Tesfaye Abebe was imprisoned on fabricated charges of organizing protest against the government twice in a matter of months. It is to be recalled that Mr Tesfaye has already spent 3 months in Naqamte prison on similar allegations. But Qeerroo network from the area said, imprisonment and brutality on innocent civilians can only explodes the ever pushing public anger on all aspect life against the dictatorship of TPLF in Oromiya.
